Mooney Viskosimeter
Product Overview
The Mooney Viskosimeter is a controlled-temperature rubber testing instrument that measures the torque required to rotate a standardized rotor in uncured rubber or polymer compound. It is used for Mooney viscosity, scorch, and pre-vulcanization testing in natural rubber, synthetic rubber, reclaimed rubber, wire and cable compounds, tire materials, seals, hoses, and molded-rubber production.

Key Advantages
One-Piece Die and Concentric Rotor Load Path
The integrated die cavity and precisely machined spindle connection maintain rotor verticality and concentricity under sustained compound resistance. During tests on high-viscosity natural, synthetic, or reclaimed rubber, reduced mechanical offset prevents the drive geometry from shifting the measured Mooney value.
Controlled 200°C Test Zone for Viscosity and Scorch Work
Temperature resolution of 0.01°C and control accuracy within ±0.5°C keep the compound on the same thermal basis from preheating through measurement. This is critical when viscosity or scorch time changes rapidly over a small temperature difference.
Real-Time Mooney and Scorch Curve Calculation
The computer follows temperature and torque response throughout the cycle, then processes viscosity and scorch results directly from the recorded data. Routine compound release can use the displayed curve, calculated points, and stored result set without transferring readings into a separate worksheet.
Customization Capabilities
Test temperature, preheat stage, measurement time, scorch calculation points, result limits, and test sequence can be configured for the rubber type and laboratory method. Programs can be prepared around ISO 289, ASTM D1646, HG/T 3242, GB/T 1232.1, or an internal compound-control procedure.
Software language, database fields, curve display, report format, print content, units, user permissions, and data export can be adapted to the laboratory. Electrical supply, air connection, enclosure color, identification plate, and network or printer arrangement can also be specified.
Quality Control
Die geometry, rotor alignment, spindle engagement, rotor speed, test pressure, and temperature channels are inspected before final calibration. The rotor is checked at 2 ±0.02 rpm, and the closing system is verified at the specified pressure to maintain the test geometry.
A calibration and reference-rubber cycle checks the 100 ±0.5 Mooney-unit point, temperature response, torque trace, curve calculation, and result printout. Air-pressure protection, die opening, software storage, and final full inspection are completed before packing.
